Yung Miami Accuses Tyla of Stealing Her Song Idea for “Chanel”

American rapper Yung Miami, of the duo City Girls, has publicly accused South African singer Tyla of appropriating the concept for her upcoming single titled “Chanel”. The allegation has stirred debate online and added tension to both artists’ release campaigns.
Yung Miami took to X (formerly Twitter) on October 16 2025 to share a series of posts directing frustration at what she perceives as a “song theft.” She claimed:
“This girl really ran off with my song and ion know how to feel about it mind you I played this song for this girl.”
“Like… B***h I’m confused!”
“Take me to Chanel > put me in Chanel.”
According to her posts, Yung Miami had been working on an unreleased track entitled “Take Me to Chanel”. She alleges she shared this with Tyla before Tyla started teasing her own single titled “Chanel”.
Tyla announced her new single “Chanel” will drop on October 24 2025, and has already teased the track’s hook — “Put me in Chanel” — in social posts.
Thus far, Tyla has not responded publicly to Yung Miami’s accusations.
Social media users have weighed in heavily: some support Yung Miami’s assertion of being wronged, others point out that referencing a brand like Chanel is common and doesn’t necessarily signal theft.
“Yung Miami is accusing Tyla of stealing her song all because both have the word Chanel in it.” — a comment noted on Reddit.
At this stage, Yung Miami’s claim that Tyla “stole” her song idea remains unverified beyond social-media posts and shared grievances. With Tyla’s official single “Chanel” scheduled for release on October 24, the true extent of the similarity — if any — will become clearer when the tracks are public and fans can compare. Until then, the conversation continues online.
